This is basically every evangelical dude I went to school with. Not included is testimony about a porn addiction.

More nuanced than my view. The sexual aspect is weird. Sometimes it's, "I was getting into drugs". Meaning they took a drag from a marijuana cigarette once. There like has to be a redemption arc or no one is satisfied.

I think this is just the American bootstrap ideology.

American rich people always pretend they started from the bottom or started poor. I respect the British rich people who are like "yeah I went to Eton and Oxbridge and was groomed to be exactly how powerful I am today"

Gotta exaggerate the under dog thing in the USA

"God told me to break up with you" is just sad. "God told me to date you" on the other hand, is straight up the creepiest thing you could ever hear

Yeah, a lot of kids are told to only date with the intent of finding a spouse, which is God ordained, obvi. So there is like a theological justification for teenage romance and heartbreak, which is pretty weird.

also should have phrases like “if everyone could choose to be a woman they would!” and “being gay is a choice, my unnatural urges for sin is because of porn!”
