When I saw this I thought child workers meant people who work with children. It seemed fucked up for them to not get lunch, but literal child laborers don't get breaks. Wtf. agony-deep

I don't know, this whole thing seems super based; reject modernity, retvrn to tradition (1800's UK with child laborers working in factories).

I can already imagine a young kid smoking on a sidewalk after a long day's honest work, thinking about his friend who got maimed for life at his job and will no longer be able to support his family. He's putting together some funds with the other guys kids to help him out.

The worst part is when the kids can't even pool their sick days to help out the maimed one - because they don't get sick days anymore.

I'll say it again, China has stricter laws in regards to child labor and they are shrinking child labor overall and more heavily regulating it as we move forward. The USA is the opposite in both respects. Additionally, China now has less children in the work force per capita than the USA and in the next 10 years may also be lower in number overall, despite having 5x the population.

Global south slowly turning against us? Let's send the children back into the mines. And cut their break times.

It hurts how the US lacks any subtlety and people will continue to be blind to this shit.
