Sort of how the Middle East in some parts is so homophobic, that men walk around holding hands and even kissing each other on the cheek is considered normal. So unless you're actively having sex or making out, then nobody really cares and just considers you good friends.
Probably. I just don't have any particular experience with travelling in those areas at that time. I was however shocked to see the behaviour i'm describing the first time I went to Morocco, which isn't even nearly as homophobic as a lot of the other parts of the Arab world.
