See that's the thing. Going into it you think "Oh it's like a serious version of Django Unchained. This will be good". But then the scenes are paced so quickly and unevenly that it feels amateurish in a bad way. It was trying to do the whole Roots-scale storyline in a two hour runtime. Solidly average film.
