Highly recommend this album. The topic is
CW medical misogyny, horrible illness, chronic pain
she had post-pregnancy osteoporosis (undiagnosed) with exquisite pain and her doctors wouldn't fucking believe her and LITERALLY called her hysterical. She asked for an MRI and they refused and then she paid for her own and guess what? She had 10 fractured vertebrae.
Aside from the powerful topic, the album is all in the same key and has like 10 distinct, amazing grooves on similar chords. This plus the addition of several interludes gives the impression that it isn't just a few songs, but it's actually all part of one longer work. Lucy's voice is amazing, and her piano arrangements are KILLER.
The audio production (especially creative techniques) are to die for as well. Excitingly beautiful reverb, and on the track Dusty Frames there is this warbly effect on the piano that sounds like it was badly compressed to MP3 which brings back major nostalgia for me.
You can listen on Bandcamp for free, but 8 pounds/10 USD is a steal for this record.
I wanted to buy the signed vinyl but shipping is over $20 to the US. The album cover is CLASSIC style, though.
