    For some reason I find it extremely funny that Chiang’s descendants have western names despite living in Taiwan

      Fwiw, they have Chinese names as well. John Chiang is Jiǎng Xiàoyán and Wayne is Jiǎng Wàn'ān.

      Secondary English names aren't all that uncommon with Taiwanese people though, from all I've seen. Probably more common than among mainlanders?

        I would guess it's more common in Taiwan just becuase of greater exposure to Western media. But it's pretty common for Chinese people who have to interact with Westerners to adopt a western name, just because the vast majority of Westerners cannot pronounce Chinese names so it saves everyone some embarrassment.
