    I don't speak Irish sorry

    But the Brits forced their spelling on the Irish along with their language

        this one I don't think is that bad. Irish is just known for throwing in a ton of unnecessary letters (probably due to being latinized by the British), and just generally being sort of weird. So you'll have beochaoineadh as bay-oh-keen-yu, délámhach as tee-lay-wah, drochdheoir as drock-wee, and of course "tiocfaidh" as "chucky."
