I played baseball for several years, but finally decided to give it up to pursue karate full time.
My dad didn't let me try out for the team my freshman because he still resented getting cut despite have to play catcher for the entire tryout week, never getting to even bat. In his defense, i was terrible in little league, and he let me join the lacrosse team instead, which i really enjoyed.
