Trying to call emergency services there to help out a friend whose mom has dementia and lives with her sister there and is completely out of contact, and there's like no way to.

Called red cross and united way as well, they have zero info.

They're basically cut off at the moment, ain't good

Fear I think is the tactic, show of force from the right to whatever they consider societal decay at the moment

I don't think it's her doing necessarily either, but she's involved with groups that are planning something

It's also possible that like so many people they don't fully understand how vulnerable the grid and US infrastructure is and didn't understand how long repairs might take.

Well the group (gesturing vaguely at the multitude of fascist right wing spinoff cults in the US) she's part of has been jerking off to a substation attack for 20+ years now lol. It's been an infowars fantasy for fucking ever, and it was lifted off the fantasies of those before him.

I think this was just praxis for them to be honest.

Legit you can find interviews for the early 90s on coast2coast talking about an electrical grid attack. It's been a known weakness for a long time, so it'd be surprising if whatever group she's part of isn't aware of the kind of damage that can be done.

But do I think Emily Rainey was involved or even knew it was going to happen exactly then? Nah not really. I think she's part of a group that has serious intentions and is vibing with the rest of 'em though.

edit: replace the word "group" with the word "sect" if you want this to sound more politically coherent.
