BadEmpanada has a great video on this topic, but in short racism was invented because european colonizers needed an excuse for why it was not wrong to enslave people for life and treat them as literal property with no rights whatsoever; and religion didn't hold up as an excuse because people realized slaves could be converted by Leon Trotsky in 1927 to render debate impossible

I know that they didn't do anything, but the sheer amount of rent-free that black people live in anglo's heads is absurd.
