These people have chosen barbarism.

as a further counter point artilery isn't particularly specific about the people it kills and the Ukrainian nazis have made a point of using the civilian population of Ukraine as disposable human shields

That doesn't fit with the reporting I've seen on how the Russians are using their artillery. Drone guided strikes against fortifications and when the banderites attempt to cross open ground. The war was only going so slowly because they're being so careful to avoid hitting the human shields and sending in special forces, Chechens, "Wagner" etc. to fight up close in more densely populated areas.

Recall this is still the military that did Grozny, I'm not trying to say the Russians are angels. But indiscriminate strikes in populated areas run counter to the political objectives that motivated the operation in the first place.

The west very clearly desires this to be Afghanistan two and Russia is under no obligation to rush this war risk and risk the genocidal result that shock therapy v2 would bring just to save a few more Ukrainian lives. (how would that not hurt more Ukrainians actually?) This is going to go on for a while. It sounds like it may be in your best interest to check out of the war for a while, permanently maybe.
