This is the title of a current post on r/RussiaUkraineWar2022 (160k subscribers) that is 95% upvoted. I'm not going to link it for obvious reasons. And yes, the comments are even worse than you could even imagine.

These people have chosen barbarism.

your daily reminder that reddit is astorturfed by bots and that they need a significantly rigged vote system and a ton of paid actors spouting paid opinions in the comments section in order to get other people to absorb these ideas by osmosis. People have to be lied to for a long time by highly motivated and powerful people with sophisticated propaganda to become like this. Reddit's public relations board is run by a foreign policy ghoul named Jessica Ashooh. The entire subreddit reeks of non-discretionary psy-ops budget from the ground up. Obviously it's grim either way.

Honestly anybody on either side taking glee in the horrific deaths is horrible by my standards.

Sorry but I quite enjoyed knowing with absolute certainty that all the azovs and most of aidar in mariupol got absolutely fucked.

The non-banderite persons and the impact of the war on the working people? Sure. I agree.

Celebrating the enemy’s deaths is fine. But seeking out footage of their carcasses being eaten by animals is just :huey-lewis: in the making

yeah it's deeply disturbing to want to watch people die.

also if the media can get you to dehumanise Russians to this degree you would have been in support of the holocaust. It is very obviously troubling how easily people have been whipped up to wish death on an entire nation of people that they also heavily racialise

Only the few that were left hiding in the industrial works. A shitload of them died until they finally holed up there.

It would be, if war crimes weren't determined by who did it instead of what was done.

The dead are dead and can't be hurt anymore. However, the person who watches with glee as the bodies of the dead are defiled, that person does harm to themselves.

This is incredibly disturbing and similar content has been all over reddit for months. I've even seen comments from Redditors claiming that they spend hours a day watching the goriest videos they can find of Russian soldiers being tortured and killed and then gloat about it afterwards, not only is this horrifying for obvious reasons, it's probably fucking a lot of them up psychologically a lot more than they realise.

17th century diarist, naval administrator and drunken sex pervert Samuel Pepys would regularly watch the violent public executions of parliamentarian regicides from the English Civil War and basically gave himself PTSD from witnessing so much torture and death, despite his loathing of the people being killed.

TL;DR: Don't watch torture and ultra violence for fun you giant weirdos (this is aimed at those subreddits, not you OP)

This is nothing new, unfortunately. It was channers watching ISIS beheadings on liveleak a decade ago, and I'm sure there was stuff before that.

I think a little bit of combat footage can be okay (not good for your brain, but instructive) for those who might anticipate defending themselves at some point to see, but who are these people preparing themselves to fight by doing this, the Russian Federation? Lol

comrade you should content warning shit like that before you traumatize our sensitive comrades or re-traumatize comrades who have already been victims of violence.

Honestly, try to avoid stuff like that as much as possible. I’m not saying you’re going out looking for it, necessarily, but I have had enough of seeing violence in my life. I avoid it completely. I’m sorry you had to see that.

On the bright side it's pretty clear whose bodies are generally getting completely disintegrated and I don't think it's the side with the huge advantage in artillery, no matter what :reddit-logo: says

I actually would argue that it would be best for no one to be disintigrated. and that the Ukrainian people being dragged by neo nazis into a war they can't win is a tragedy they are victims of.

the best thing for all parties is for the west to stop sending weapons and start sending medical supplies

I'm not gonna disagree on the solution or the problem, but since there are no political forces in the west interested in a peaceful resolution I'll offer this single counterpoint: denazification by disintegration is cool and good

as a further counter point artilery isn't particularly specific about the people it kills and the Ukrainian nazis have made a point of using the civilian population of Ukraine as disposable human shields

That doesn't fit with the reporting I've seen on how the Russians are using their artillery. Drone guided strikes against fortifications and when the banderites attempt to cross open ground. The war was only going so slowly because they're being so careful to avoid hitting the human shields and sending in special forces, Chechens, "Wagner" etc. to fight up close in more densely populated areas.

Recall this is still the military that did Grozny, I'm not trying to say the Russians are angels. But indiscriminate strikes in populated areas run counter to the political objectives that motivated the operation in the first place.

The west very clearly desires this to be Afghanistan two and Russia is under no obligation to rush this war risk and risk the genocidal result that shock therapy v2 would bring just to save a few more Ukrainian lives. (how would that not hurt more Ukrainians actually?) This is going to go on for a while. It sounds like it may be in your best interest to check out of the war for a while, permanently maybe.

See, I fucking hate nazis and have no problem with their kind being thrown in a pit. But watching and enjoying this kind of shit is just weird even if it was a dead nazi body.

Like the only depraved thing I enjoy when it came to punishing nazis was the story about a Soviet squad forcing a captured nazi to play the piano while they danced and laugh, then they shot him at the end anyway. And I don’t even know if that story is real or Nazi propaganda.

The picture is real but the story is fake. The guy playing the piano is wearing the same uniform as the happy Soviet soldier on the tank.

I just want the violence to end. The only good outcome of this war is a bunch of nazis getting killed, but this war had actually been very successful in rehabilitating nazis in the West for propaganda purposes. So many places destroyed to "denazify" the country (which to be fair does need denazification) only to have innocent people get caught in the crossfire and a very successful propaganda war plus funding for nazis in the West. I'm not looking forward to what Azov does with all of those war toys :amerikkka: gave them.

the end result will likely be a decade in which Europe has to deal with neo nazi terrorism like the middle east had to deal with Islamism due to the flood of weapons such groups have been provided similar to the long term effects of similar US policy during the Soviet Afghan war.

Frankly I prefer the Islamists they're more reasonable people
