So what would be a good source to learn more? The Deprogram episode was informative in a very basic sense, and I’ve read articles explaining the NATO meddling that led to the dissolution. But as to how the current context relates to the modern left outside of being very sad… I know nothing.
I don't know really. I barely keep informed through my family and some local news outlets, but it's pretty dire to the point of hopelessness. In my (ex)country the marginally successful "far-left" are some Marxists which could be described as the ultra-left "China bad" at best. The most successful "left" in general, are Social Democrats, who are useless, incompetent, opportunists. So, the right-wing routinely wins any elections and has pretty much free reign over everything. I don't see any hope of change, until there is a global "tectonic shift" of some kind, i.e. literally the end of capitalism on a global level.
