Whoever is responsible for making "hide known file extensions" the default behavior over at Microsoft is singularly responsible for causing more damages than just about anybody else in the tech industry. This single decision is easily the root cause of billions of dollars worth of disruptions, outages, data loss, and disclosures of private data over an 11 year timespan.
I was enraged the first time I encountered a Windows machine without file extensions. The rage became worse when I realized it wasn't the user who customized their computer this way, but that it was now the Windows default. Absolutely fucking maddening.
Qbittorrent has some nice built in search plugins. It's not obvious where to find the menu option that reveals the search tab, didn't notice it at first! It will automatically add a bunch if you hit update plugins. There's also one for RuTracker on the github, plus others I haven't needed yet.
my built-in search plugins for Qbittorrent have been giving me dead torrents for most things I've tried, this wasn't the case 10 years ago.
I don't mind the capchas so much as the sites where clicking on ANYTHING will result in some popup bullshit and you have to activate like 15 popups before it actually lets you use the link and the fucking websites can detect if you're using ublock or adblock
Most of the times I end up in a shithole like that, they don't even have the file. I refuse this shit on principle.
i dont have a data cap on my home internet thankfully. keep in mind with streaming you'll use up your data cap too, but instead of downloading once and watching something many times, you have to download it every time you watch it.
