Forgot to say this in the original thread, but it's funny to portray the kid as the Harry Potter fan, when it's much more likely to be the dad. Like the last of the movie versions came out over a decade ago. I imagine most of the fan base is at least 25.
My goal in 2023 is to read a book a week, but it's just reading the Harry Potter books on repeat.
Total anecdote but I remember my younger siblings getting into Harry Potter for a while - they didn't make it past the third book and never talked about it again once they got bored of it lmao. HP was a social event as much as it was a media property, if you weren't there when it was happening the whole franchise loses a ton of its power.
I remember there being giant midnight launches for the books since at least the 5th one. And honestly, sucks that Rowling's politics are shit and a lot of people haven't read a book since, but I imagine it got a lot of people excited about reading so not all bad.
The total lack of media literacy among games experts is kinda wild.
Like for 30 years this dude has played video games, made content analyzing them, and content analyzing other people's responses to them, and still does "lol idk the curtains are just blue why would it mean anything?"
Games are art, except when people like this play them.
It's weird to think about how CAD is still around. It's pushing 20 years now, and the only reason people under 30 know about it is because of loss
PA has kinda transcended the comic and the fan base is a whole community of folks that grew up together with similar hobbies.
It’s not too late, they have a very healthy twitch channel to check out.
I remember some dudes in highschool just getting really mad about those web comics back in the day
I mean before loss, just arguing that some were good and others were bad
Last VGCats was in 2021, but considering the hiatuses that comic has gone on in the past I still wouldn't say for sure it's over lmao
PA still updating. With PAX it's an institution that far outstrips just the comic though, the daily strip feels like a relic.
