You can't arm yourself if you can't afford a gun because you've been paying out your ass for hrt and need to save for surgery and you have trouble finding work due to discrimination. I'm very grateful that my insurance covers ALL trans healthcare, but a vast majority of trans folks can not say the same and do not have the means to defend themselves.
