If they lose some percentage of the loyal viewers but pick up a million new viewers, they're still growing the audience. But the more this is repeated, more and more of the audience wonders aloud why they still watch, but it's still a bigger and growing audience. I think this is happening more and faster than it used to because it's moved from natural evolution to a growth strategy.
