I've only had caviar once, and it was just sort of unpleasant and mediocre. It's just salty, vaguely fish-flavored jelly, less offensive tasting than fish (I don't like seafood) but without any redeeming qualities or purpose to it. I cannot imagine a single person would choose to eat it except out of desperation were it not for the bizarre status symbol aspect.
