      His portrait just sits there like a prop, in the ruins of a nation he helped build, in the middle of a petty war where neither side supports what he fought for, and was a direct result of those ideals being abandoned.

      yeah the whole thing is just :deeper-sadness: poor, old and sick people just get shuffled back and forth until they get unlucky. Russia takes a village, a few guys get shot, they get shelled by Ukrainians. Ukrainians take the village back, a few of them get picked up for 'interrogation' and they get shelled by the Russians. Rinse and repeat until their village is empty enough to later sell the land to Blackrock or a Russian capital fund or some shit

    I like the "but fear remains" format of propaganda headlines. Like in Xinjiang where they couldn't be like "but evidence remains of all the awful shit we once alleged based purely on Google maps" and like how they're not currently saying "Ukraine has left Donetsk, but children's parks full of petal mines remain"
