It sucks that skiing like boating has basically become impossible for working class people. Like yeah they generally did tend to always skew toward the wealthy, but it was possible to afford as a blue collar person. Like a lift ticket to snowbird/Alta was like 50$ two decades ago, one of the best resorts in the world. Now a days your paying 200$ for a ticket, and that's not even considering equipment costs.

Dad ans I used to go up to Vermont and spend a week skiing, food and board, for like 1k. We would sleep in the absolute shittiest places, one time it was a converted attic above a bar that had holes in the floor straight to the bar, and eat the shittiest food. But like we had a great time.

Fuck, man, once upon a time Jackson Hole was pretty slack. For longer college breaks you could take the train from Atlanta or Chicago out to western Wyoming, eat, drink, sleep, smoke weed and ski for weeks on a few hundred bucks, and dress up like a cowboy while doing it. Now it’s the wealthiest place in the nation.

Small boat sailing is sad too, agreed. I got into lasers through Boy Scouts. Had to quit because the crowd sucks now, all trust fund brokerage kiddies and shit.
