Well I guess we know what Disney is going to do now to get it released in China. Plus no longer will they have to push main characters to the background based on their "pesky" skin color.

One fuxking poster out of the dozens they made for the film has stayed rent free in the minds of all the conservative shit heads who are just going to remain proudly crowing that “China are the real racists!” until the end of time despite the central conceit being easily disproven with a single google search.

It’s shit like this which is pushing me to agree with that redsails article called Elites, Masses and Rebels (or at least in regards to the “middle class” and petit bourgeois)

Well I guess we know what Disney is going to do now to get it released in China.

      According to Wikipedia:

Black Panther opened in China ($66.5 million) with the fourth-highest MCU and superhero opening ever in the country. This included the biggest opening day and opening weekend ($7.3 million) of March for IMAX in China.

That alternate poster being blamed on China is extremely frustrating myth, because you can literally find both Chinese versions of the other posters and other-language posters of the one that minimized Boyega with a simple google search.

I'm also pretty sure China didn't edit out the scene of the two women kissing that everyone just preemptively assumed would get edited out by them. Saudi Arabia did, though.

The funniest thing is that alternative poster for black panther was only used in Hong Kong but saying that Hong Kong is full of racists doesn’t fit “muh evil CCP” narrative as well

Honestly I thought LGBT scenes being removed has more to do with conservative audiences than governments, cuz a lot of people here in Indonesia complain about LGBT characters in Disney movies simply existing (not even a kiss scene).
