I have never identified with a character in a manga as much as I do with Asa. The arrogance and looking down on people mixed with bouts of severe self hatred and denying emotions as illogical while self isolating further. Just like teen me.
I've gotten over the arrogance and looking down on people at least, working on the rest too.
what i love about csm is how real the minds of the characters are. asa is not a cool or bombastic protagonist, she's miserable and full of jealousy and self-loathing, she has low self-esteem with her occasional fun moments like her aquarium date. denji in part 1 wants to live a life that he always thought was impossible, which starts with sex and good food and comfort. in part 2 he just wants attention and love and doesnt know how to go about it, and he feels miserable when he cant get a girlfriend. their feelings are very real and valid and pretty selfish, and its likely that you've felt the same way at some point
