I picked this game up in the current Steam sale and saw this dialog earlier. Apparently it's roughly the same in Japanese and so not just something added in during localization. Small thing I guess but it's a pleasant surprise to see this sort of thing pop up in video games.
Despite some cringe dialog here and there, the story is quite good and the game is pretty great overall. If you like visual novels, you should check this one out.
