I've seen this song preformed live. They played the first half, then a setlist, then the last half to close the show.
I want to see Sleep live so bad. I've seen Om and High on Fire, but never had a chance for Sleep. My friend took two edibles and found himself levitating during this song.
I was at a doom metal show and this song came on the PA. Everyone went nuts.
i have a meeting in five minutes that i don't need to be at all mentally present for. :comfy-cool: :stalin-smokin:
This album is such a classic. :stalin-smokin: is a requirement for this, never heard it sober in my life. I have it to see it live sometime.
[@corgiwithalaptop would you consider sleep an inspiration for your band? i can't say that in my limited experience i've heard anything like your stuff other than this.
Short answer, yeah!
Long answer: fuck Matt Pike. There are tons of other artists who do the 'dopesmoker thing,' to varying degrees - that said, yeah, sometimes ideas that sound like Matt or something will creep in there. We're been called 'Thou covering Sleep' before.
oh what's the tea on matt pike? i don't see much on his wikipedia and i know very little about the genre. i'm not a big metal head so i only listen to select things i like, like this album.
Big boomer + David Icke energy

oh, this is literally the same as finding out that an experimental hip hop artist i like named constrobuz is a holocaust denier. neat.
I'm not sure what upset me more when I first read it - his unwavering defense of Icke, or his attitude towards being called out about it.
both feel pretty equal to me, and of course, those are two sides of the common antisemitic coin. it's always "my guy is good" and "you can't tell me not to". they give ground on neither.
The pound of weed Sleep had written into the recording budget
i do have to respect this though.
if something ever comes out about isaac wood or geordie greep, i'm going to swear off all music from living artists istg
Luckily, my 2 all time favorites are dead :comfy-cool:
luckily, i don't think black dresses are going to do anything fucked up.
edit: and sidney gish is perfect, i can feel it
Ada Rook my beloved :trans-heart: Listening to black dresses has really helped me come to terms with my own gender identity and for that I will be forever grateful
geordie is a good lad. loves his mother. i can tell.
