FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas

The 25 feet tall one-of-a-kind statue was installed Sunday in front of the Hogeye Incorporated building between Farmington and Fayetteville on Martin Luther Kind Boulevard. Those behind the eye-catching addition say they hope the towering hog will bring people from outside of the area to come see the landmark for themselves.

“Without a doubt it will be a landmark in Northwest Arkansas. It will probably make those lists that include the biggest ball of twine and the biggest jackalope on Route 66, so that kind of thing,” said Cliff Slinkard, co-owner of Hogeye Inc. Slinkard says he came up with the idea for the statue over a decade ago and is happy the hog is in its rightful place.

We should have a death match series written about all the road side attractions. The Golden Fayetteville Hog to do battle with the Big Blue Bug in Rhode Island - who will win?

It seems quaint now but in the Dark Ages - before the net when people didn't even have video games or energy drinks - they needed stuff to jolt them out of the humdrum reality of existence. For example - the world's biggest X.
