When did Feudalism End?
A power structure composed of contracts between individuals for military obligations in exchange for control of land and rights to levy taxes on its occupants. The structure is hierarchical in nature and the contracts are hereditary. The ideological underpinning of feudalism in Europe rests on the authority granted to rulers by the Catholic Church. Of course, it existed because it was wedded to the functional economic order of manorialism.
