Melania is a really fun boss fight. The problem is that she requires you to be good at dodging and in my time playing Elden Ring I've only seen one Co-op host dodge an attack.
There's so many players who go fingerprint shield + thrusting weapon so they never have to let their guard down or sink an ungodly amount of levels into Vig so they can tank through bosses' attacks. And if you play like that you're just gonna get caught up by her healing.
My most gatekeeper opinion is that if you are summoning for Melania (perfectly reasonable) but don't know how to dodge Waterfowl just equip a big shield. I'd rather her heal a bunch than the Host die
