For context, the "bartender technology" was supposed to lay the groundwork for the DAE LE OASIS(tm)(r) virtual reality metaverse full of highly advanced NPCs that would be indistinguishable from real life people. That's how it was peddled from the grifters themselves and that's how the big spenders carried the message of how important it was to have high fidelity bartenders.

Chris Roberts has two priorities with Star Citizen. One is to present himself as :my-hero: using his actual name in the game's lore.

      https://starcitizen.tools/Chris_Roberts_(lore)

The other is a clumsy forever amateur level of obsession with cinematic fidelity. I don't mean camera work or lighting or anything like that. I mean "the space mess hall scene and its generic bootbrained small talk banter between Starship Troopers copypaste characters better be perfect!"

"Bartender tech" is an example of the latter priority.

One of the videos you posted the other day of a glitch in the game showed there's even a fucking hydration level your character needs to reach. I just want to fly the ship and shoot aliens man not be ryo hazuki drinking jet colas.

There's more than that. There's an ARGON meter. That's right, you better make sure your argon levels aren't too unhealthy and that won't be exhausting busywork next to all the other status bars.

That or it's a measurement of the player character's desire to play an X-series game instead of Star Citizen. In that case my argon levels are pretty high right now.

Deep in Chris Roberts' soul, he hates the fact that he's famous for video games. He wanted to break into Hollywood so bad it's almost tragic - the Wing Commander movie was his golden ticket, and he completely botched it.

It's wild that he botched the Wing Commander movie so bad when he made both the game and the movie, doing a bad movie adaptation of your own videogame is some :galaxy-brain: shit lmao

All they had to do was bring in Luke Skywalker to blow up some Star Trek baddies and they would have had a solid summer blockbuster. But instead they got the cast of She's All That.

We got this scene out of that movie, at least. :troll:

Is he still blaming the “SJW mafia” for the movie failing? Because that’s my favorite part of it all he went out of his way to change shit for the movie for the worst and then blamed it on Hollywood culture.

Chris. CHRIS! Ship geometry is folding in on itself and all the weapons fire shoes, like, all of them - even the ships are launching giant moon boots. Whaadawegonnado?!

    Fix the bartenders!

Three years lol. The bartenders in Mass Effect were more sociable than these gormless twats. And they made you drinks, even if one did try to kill you.

The bars in Freelancer were better than this too, and they were basically just adventure game point and click mission hubs.

Why would you even want this? Even if it was possible and they got the intended result, how would it be any better than just a traditional NPC?

Coffee Talk is a good bar tending game and they somehow pulled off with pixel :stirner-shocked: graphics.

Nothing could have prepared me for just how stupid the bartenders would be.

Imagining that the devs wanted to show this off is astounding.

If you want to reach a new level of :joker-shopping: look up "bedsheet tech" or The River(tm)(r).

This is the kind of shit that gives me life. No seriously no matter how bad I fuck up I at least know I’m making a better use of my time and money then Chris ever will.
