You could go to jail for USING a VPN to access those sites. It also allows the government to "regulate and shut down" any social media site with more than 1 million users. Meaning that all big social media networks would have to do whatever the government wants, since the govenment has a constant threat of banning their network at their fingertips.

        I really want to see it come up in a court case that someone visited a website hosted in Taiwan via VPN. It would be the funniest judgement thing to have the judge come up with "Taiwan is China" and have it go through to the supreme court who absolutely wouldn't want to judge it that way but also would be under pressure not to create a major international incident.

        Could be fun.
