    kugatsu, not kyuugatsu

On their own you'd read them as kyuu and gatsu, but when put together in the word September they read kugatsu

(Unless all my Japanese teachers have lied to me all these years :rage-cry: )

The word was also read out loud as kugatsu in this sentence. The furigana in Duolingo are all over the fucking place in general

I dunno, I've never seen く used as the furigana for 九. Like 九州 is きゅうしゅう

But all good either way. I've heard kugatsu in everyday conversation too.

It's officially spelled きゅうがつ but read as if it was くがつ. That's because Japanese being phonetic and a-tonal is a dirty lie.

But hey, English speakers shouldn't be complaining about other languages being inconsistent and non-phonetic. I mean shit, just the word "phonetic" is a great example. Why the fuck isn't it spelled "fonetic" or pronounced "puh-hon-etic"?.

      Fucking languages man.

If they choose to have one spelling in their little app they should probably stick to how it's pronounced since there is no space to explain these nuances
