    What is the point in lying if you admit you lie in the post after it?

    Propaganda is much more effective if you just don't admit you're lying.

      The admission they were lying was posted over an hour after the original tweet. Probably banking on that tried and true "Posting your article revisions on the 4th page of the next days paper to no fanfare and hoping nobody sees it."

      E) Additionally, and I don't know if this is intentional, but if you are viewing that tweet without an account or nitter you literally can't see the replies, so you wouldn't see them saying it's not true. Rare occasion where community notes feature is a force for good my-hero

      Its unhinged and ridiculous and based on lies, but the idea here is to say "how would you feel if your child was raped and the people who did it were given a country".
