Looks like you can get around twitter's apparent ban on substack links by just using a URL shortener lol

He's probably too busy trying to monetize his relationship with podcasts and streamers like 1488ButNotNazis.

Tiabbi comes from the Exile milieu, along with Yasha Levine, Mark Aimes, and John Dolan. Out of the bunch, his brain is definitely the most fried. It doesn't surprise me that he got invited on. If Chapo started a couple years earlier, they probably would have had Glenn Greenwald on too. A lot of journalists have brainworms. Some of them stumble upon good reporting a while before spinning out completely.

They had Greenwald on when he broke the story that got Lula freed (which was like the one good story he did). A recent War Nerd episode with those three guys you mentioned completely eviscerated him.

I have a lot of respect for the rest of these guys despite their individual quirks, which is why I brought it up. It is wild to see how far people like Taibbi have fallen. Especially Greenwald, who went from disclosing the Snowden leaks to shoveling red meat for chuds.

Even :the-podcast: had Glenn Greenwald on, it was before he fell off the deep end.

This tweet from Substack, which does not contain any links to Substack, is being restricted by @elonmusk and Twitter. Twitter is not allowing anyone to reply, like, or retweet the message. So Musk is not only suppressing speech, he's also suppressing discussion of his tactics

The tweet by Substack in question...

Any platform that benefits from writers' and creators' work but doesn't give them control over their relationships will inevitably wonder how to respond to the platforms that do.

For some reason - it has one like.

    Edit

Twitter has not only banned links to Substack, but has seemingly completely blocked likes, retweets, and replies on Substack's own Twitter account too. Not only that but any tweet that quote tweets substack will have all its likes, retweets, and replies blocked too. Elon's gotta be real mad, never seen anything like this.

Holy shit - this is getting better and better every few minutes....

Matt Taibbi emails subscribers to his Substack saying he will no longer be using Twitter because of the platform's restrictions on engaging with Substack links.

Not surprised, anything short of service that crawls links repeatedly while the post is still fresh enough to show up in recommendations or whatever would be easily defeated.

Did this tweet from 2 days ago make Elon have a temper tantrum about Substack? Right now it has 109k likes...

Oops. It's a year old. I'm a fact checker like Taibbi!

    Substack is hiring!

If you're a Twitter employee who's considering resigning because you're worried about Elon Musk pushing for less regulated speech… please do not come work here.
