Still kind of a dumb idea but hey. It's a crazy unexpected turn from our neolib government after years of every sort of expert advising against it and them threatening to go through with it anyway. Carbrain chuds are obviously mad and it's glorious.

Really hoping this sticks, because the city is fucking beautiful and it's a damn shame that everything outside the cultural centre is just lawns, stroads and parking lots.

Beautiful might be a stretch, but it's not bad. There are some very nice places. Which does put it above the pack.

I don't think it's a stretch at all. Maybe a little touristy but still, gorgeous, vertical, green, well maintained. Surprisingly chill. You can just get on top of a rampart and drink a few beers.

          I am definitely biased though.

It's a super racist/bigoted place (esp against religious minorities), but still manages to be hands down the best province in Canada

I'm always in a weird situation when I read these posts, because I still feel the normie compulsion to defend my people, but also it's 100% true.

So instead I try to remind people that all of North America is either as racist/bigoted or more.

I get what you mean. I wasn't trying to convey that the Quebecois are more bigoted than the ROC or NA, just very much so, and in a different way. Quebec is still a lovely place, and Montreal is the best city I've been to in US/CAN. Probably the most interesting thing as an American is that if you ignore the anglophone media, unless you're handling money, it's pretty easy to forget you're in Canada. It's like the francophones were unable to physically leave Canada, but they have definitely mentally left Canada.

Radio-Canada has confirmed the so-called third link will be reserved exclusively for public transit.

That doesn't mean trains necessarily. Much is needed to make sure this project is actually good. Examples of how it could go wrong:

    • Different incompatible train system built that doesn't connect to the new tram network
    • They go with the earlier plan and use all electric buses and there's a battery explosion in the tunnel
    • Let's make this another Loop like the one in Las Vegas! :melon-musk:
