Stuff like Paul Robeson, Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, etc. John Browns Body is obviously gold but what are some of your favorites? <:
I like Ewan MacColl a lot. Ballad of Accounting and of course the ballad of Ho Chi Min. Also Lyndon Johnson told the Nation even though that may not exactly be a song about the struggle. Although it goes in that direction I think
Woody Guthrie is obviously a favorite, the New Lost City Ramblers did at least a few union songs, like "Join the C.I.O." If you've never gotten into folk punk, which isn't Old Time music at all but is incredibly anti establishment in a fun way.
"folk punk" is something id put in my twitter bio, i cant believe i never looked into it as a music genre. ive gotta check it out ASAP.
Early against me is great, reinventing axl rose is 10/10. Early ajj is also incredible, people who can eat people is a perfect album start to finish
I'd recommend "Urine Speaks Louder than Words" by the Wingnut Dishwashers Union as a starting point. It's uh, fucking great.
And so you're asking me, who does the dishes after the revolution?
Well, I do my own dishes now, I'll do our own dishes then
You know it's always the ones who don't who ask that fucking question
This playlist is pretty good, got lots of Pete Seeger and Billy Bragg
I always get a bit emotional when I hear El Pueblo Unido, especially this is pretty powerful.
Also if you don't have a problem with German Hannes Wader is a legend, this whole album is pretty based.
