I made a couple of one-page websites going over sources relating to controversies of socialist states. There's an unfortunate tendency to regard source collectives as individual sources, but I still thought it would be convenient to have sites you can share for when the issue is brought up for the 1000th time (for issues that can't be resolved with a single source). I've read/watched everything on the sites, so to tell me if you have any questions/suggestions.
The Tiananmen Square Protests (6-4 incident)
These resources should be added to the sidebar of some comm because a couple months from now this post will disappear.
probably LGBTQ+ rights on countries like Cuba and China since those are normaly brought up a lot
Would be good to have something for Cambodia and Pol Pot, honestly. Good to have resources though.
Oh and Tibet wouldn't be bad either, mostly bc it's an easy dunk
Wouldn't have anything on Pol Pot besides
The U.S. Is Even More Guilty Than Pol Pot The Long Secret Alliance: Uncle Sam and Pol Pot
Note that both of these barely address the CPC's support for Pol Pot (under both Mao and Deng), which is something that must be condemned and contended with regarding the history of the PRC.
Tibet is a good suggestion.
Yeah I'm fairly aware of the whole US backing, but it really is another one of those things. People love to talk about the mass murders under pol Pot and attribute it to communism without understanding literally who backed him and who stopped him
