or
B) sufficiently layered in irony so that his brownshirts lose interest.
twitter has been getting slowly dismantled since it was used for countering the American state in 2020 during the BLM uprisings. Musk is just expediting the hollowing of it so he can fill the site with an increasingly wider variety of nazis.

I use it for my job, but I'm hoping that will stop being a thing once something else becomes semi-popular.
Companies will maintain a parallel presence on multiple platforms until Twitter becomes known in the mainstream to be too toxic for advertisers to stay on. It'll take time.
Mastodon is absurdly unwelcoming to twitter users & suffers from severe HOA vibes. Most servers demand you CW all political content & discussion of anything controversial.
Hexbear strikes a good median of content warning most of the time, but too many mastodon servers enforce a “civility at all costs” policy. It of course tends to be used against marginalized groups because bigots are very good at “just asking questions” and mimicking manners.
Real talk: Mastodon massively fucked up their window when Musk first bought twitter. Most of the major accounts tried to move to Mastodon, had culture shock or confusion on picking a server, and then gave up. 3 of the larger instances also immediately started descending into a turf war over who should get the new user influx.
This resulted in some people shifting over to Mastodon, but not enough sticking for it to matter. Mastodon really fucked that opportunity up.

If you're going to stay on Twitter at this point, you should download Control Panel for Twitter to turn off all algorithmic suggestions. Stick to followers only, and block people and mute words liberally.
