I've gotten raged at for saying positive things about Owl House and related shows before, usually in the "X is for babies" format. :disgost:

If I could send electric shocks through the internet toward the hands of people that type out "(show that is heartwarming and not grimdark/edgy enough) is for babies", I'd be the Palpatine of the internet. :unlimited-power:

sadly i have no fanfic recs here, but i could possibly rec shows with more pain for you? a lot of people compare the most recent gundam to the owl house, and i can see why even if the central relationship is actually pretty different. it's good, it's gay, it's ongoing, and it's got sick giant robots fighting as a bonus with all the relationship drama and whatnot

also i think little witch academia is a lot more similar in main character and setting, and i do in fact have fanfiction to recommend for that one

plus i have other recommendations for things with lesbians in them if you want, just dm me

I only have two episodes left and i already miss it. It's so great to watch a show where every time somebody would normally act like an ass and push people away for the sake of dramatic tension, they instead just hug and are friends. It's so good to see two characters like Luz and Eda, which would normally be portrayed having a dysfunctional, abusive Rick and Morty dynamic, bond with each other over the course of just the first few episodes and have a healthy mother-surrogate daughter relationship instead. Or to see a character like Hooty, who would normally be the show's Zoidberg, find friendship with Lilith and be missed by Luz when he's not around. To see a character like King not just be the snarky megalomaniac, but drop that megalomaniac side after one season and accept that he's actually soft and adorable and that this is ok and that people can like him for that.

And that's not even getting into the wholesome, cute and wonderful queer representation, although you can't fully seperate Owl Houses' emotional themes of openness, acceptance and of allowing yourself to love and be loved from queer topics like found family.

It's no surprise the cowards at Disney killed this when it could have become the healthy, inclusive antithesis to Harry Potter's glorification of a bunch of private school bullies who grow up to be cops and prime ministers. This show couldn't survive, it doesn't teach people to hate.
