In the worst way possible tbh. Currently the game refuses to allow a vanguard party led communist state from regime changing monarchies because they are both “authoritarian”.
They're going to make "one-party states" a thing distinct from autocracies, at least.
If you ask me, though, "vanguardism" is a stupid fucking concept and feels out of place compared to the rest of the game.
I agree, the whole point of the game is using material changes to shape the ideology and a vanguard somewhat goes against that.

I've had a run where RNG lined up extremely well and basically all the interest groups were some kind of leftist radical. It was a good game.
In my most recent one, my labor union went lib and wouldn't support a change from parliamentary republic to council republic. I didn't end up going communist until the 1890s.
