    performative transparency where the implication of privacy is you've got something to hide, but the windows you're supposed to let people see in through are designed for you to keep things hidden.

    reminds me of dutch protestant emphasis on street-visible windows so everyone can see how they have 'nothing to hide'; when they just beat their kids/wife/servants in a different room
