    I would bet:

    1. There are so many Nazis on the Ukranian side it's becoming impossible to ignore,
    2. This can be brushed aside as "problematic but what are you going to do?" for as long as necessary, and
    3. This opens the door for a media retreat if Ukraine collapses/becomes unsupportable.

    Oh also creating some distance between the attacks in Russia and the Good Wholesome Main Ukranian Troops.
