LA JOLLA—In mice with diet-induced diabetes—the equivalent of type 2 diabetes in humans—a single injection of the protein FGF1 is enough to restore blood sugar levels to a healthy range for more than two days. The discovery by Salk scientists, published today in the journal Nature, could lead to a new generation of safer, more effective diabetes drugs.
Under a socialist system I can't help but think we would have cured (not "treat") diabetes by now.
You know they're still testing and doing research on this right? I'm finding articles and research papers from 2023 on FGF1 and diabetes mellitus.
We are at the "how does this work mechanistically and does this research translate to other lab animals" stage.
So I guess human trials by 2100AD? 🤣 🤣 🤣
