First published 1992, and I read it the first time around 2015 or so. The whole section about the epidemic in the present day of the novel is quite an experience, from Americans refusing to quarantine because liberty to medical professionals running out of PPE. I remember how it ends, so I've been thinking about rereading it since 2020 but I haven't been sure if that's a good idea. Finally went ahead and did it. I'm about 60% through, and doom is building. Maybe it was too soon after all.

    I finished it, and as predicted, cried buckets. Such a good book though, and maybe cathartic?
