lmao and Andy's response tells you all you need to know about why.

It is an abused function used by many violent extremist accounts to prevent outsiders from reporting their tweets that call for violence, or more recently, to prevent people from writing a @CommunityNotes fact check. With the use of third-party blocking scripts, they can mass-block hundreds of thousands of people.

They want to be able to swarm people and get them banned from Twitter.

    :NOOOOO:

I have spent way too much time building a walled garden on Twitter, I have like 14000 blocked accounts. Removing blocks will ruin the platform (again)

He's been a big name in fascist media for a long, long time. Someone threw a milkshake at him like a decade ago and he parleyed that in to relevancy for years afterwards claiming violent antifas were attacking goods honest patriots with concrete milkshakes or some BS.

Oh Jesus christ that happened in 2019 what the fuck is even happening to space/time?

Milkshake is like radioactive spiders to chuds. Seems to give them super-chud powers

What a noble endeavor, correcting disinformation, one community note at a time.

Blocking is a stronger form of mute.

If you want pillarisation this is how you get it. The block feature is what allows people of opposing political factions to exist on a single platform, it prevents half the userbase from pillarising to a different website by allowing people to pillarise on the existing platform.

This man will consistently take actions that lose him userbase.
