    I think they are using phrase Global South as a geographical sense

      it isn't a geographic term. all of asia is north of the equator.

        But are large parts of Asia not consisdred partof the Global South?

          the point is that many countries in the global south, whether in asia, africa, or america are not geographically in the southern hemisphere.

          it is just a play on how europe and the US are at the north of most maps and things south of them are exploited. it can't be an actual geographic designation because the southern US is on the same meridian as exploited north africa and the middle east.
