These guys are dead dead.
paying a quarter million dollars to get crushed to death with 4 other dumb broads in a sewer pipe. next time just go to saint tropez
$250,000
takes 12 hours
it's about the size of a king-size bed
no windows
you take turns looking out of a 10" porthole at the faint outline of the shipwreck
if they can find it
sometimes they can't find it
Even if everything did go right and this didn’t sink the idea that anyone would pay $250k to spend TWELVE HOURS IN THIS THING with four other people is fucking insane. I am not claustrophobic at all and this is fully nuts.
I'm claustrophobic and I honestly feel bad for them. Maybe I'm soft but I wouldn't wish a slow, excruciating death via asphyxiation in a dark, cramped space on anyone, even billionaires and fascists. This isn't even considering the raw panic that probably occurred once they realized they were screwed.
Unless somehow the sub got instantly pressurized and they all got crushed to death within seconds. In that case, lmao rip bozo
If the reports are accurate about the damage to the carbon fiber from previous dives, and the observation window only being rated for 1300 meters (they were diving to 4k+ meters), the most likely thing that happened was an implosion, which you can look up the
spoiler
Byford Dolphin
for an idea of how that sort of thing goes at a similar pressure to where communication was lost. Just a forewarning about that, it's incredibly gruesome and there are images online that you probably don't want to see related to it, so please consider that before searching for it.
Byford Dolphin was an explosion rather than an implosion since the pressure inside the chamber was much higher than the outside pressure, resulting in all the air rushing outwards. So they didn't get crushed like would happen in an implosion, but the end result is equally as gruesome (at least for the one guy by the door).
We may find out what happened eventually, but I think it's likely the vessel failed and if that's the case they all perished within a few milliseconds at those kinds of depths.
