As for the other passengers, are they stupid? Do they not know this man? Did they not see the sub before going in? Like maaaaybe if you see the interior and it's one porthole, two screens, this motherfucker sitting there with his logi joystick, maaaybe you should back out man, ask for refund or since you're a millonaire let him keep all the cash, it's worth nothing at the end of the day... because it seems like you don't value your life enough.

Having interacted with people like these in the past, and having gotten infuriated at their behavior, I can assure you that yes, they are that stupid.

The problem is that they are used to having everything served to them on a silver platter in topmost pristine quality, hence the thought that someone might be fucking them over, might be endangering their lives, or might be misleading them doesn't even grace their minds. They legitimately believe all the bullshit they are told. "Doesn't this sub look a little unsafe? Is this really something we should be doing?" -- "No, no, we've done this hundreds of times before and it's completely safe, no concerns to be had whatsoever! Come along now, or you're a party pooper!".

The rich who initiated this deserve their fate. I only feel slightly bad for the 19-year old, because I can imagine he may have gotten dragged into this against his will -- but then again, he too was from one of the richest families of Pakistan, so chances are his views didn't differ much from his father.
