They lost contact with the submersible 90 minutes after launch and it's far more likely it was crushed at that moment than that any of them are alive

Okay I have some very basic and thin empathy for these people, if they are alive (which they don't seem to be) and are having a pretty terrible time... yeah, that fucking sucks man. Either way, fuck them. Why? Bruh the writing was plastered in all possible walls what the fuck. Did they not conduct any sort of research on what this company is and who the CEO was (was, because he is kill bro). The guy was BRAGGING ABOUT SAFETY MEASURES, BRAGGING ABOUT BREAKING SAFETY MEASURES FOR "INNOVATION" or some shit capitalists like to talk about and also said "THIS SHOULDN'T BE HARD". Serves him fucking right. As for the other passengers, are they stupid? Do they not know this man? Did they not see the sub before going in? Like maaaaybe if you see the interior and it's one porthole, two screens, this motherfucker sitting there with his logi joystick, maaaybe you should back out man, ask for refund or since you're a millonaire let him keep all the cash, it's worth nothing at the end of the day... because it seems like you don't value your life enough.

Like I understand, joysticks are used in military hardware and bla bla bla, but these dudes are being cheap bastards. See any of the subs that are used for deep sea exploration? they don't use logi $30 (probably used) joysticks man, they are not cheap ass mofos and any bolt that isn't like state-of-the-art gets immediately replaced.

This is a perfect example of fuck around and find out, and boy did they found out. Unqualified people shouldn't really go down and visit Titanic unless they are archeologists or whatever the fuck, also there's a common belief in naval communities in which ship wrecks were people died are graveyards and they are not to be disturbed, silly as it sounds it's true. Leave the fucking wreck alone unless you have scientific studies to conduct. In fact, this nonsense of "hey let me take the 30 bucks logi and steer this thing to get a better view" shit done by complete idiots creates quite the problem for the wreck itself, imagine if someone who knows shit about subs accidentally rams it into the Titanic's hull? We got a problem there, a bunch of dead people (I don't care about them) and the structural integrity of an historic site might be compromised (which I do care about). Good job I guess.

This is funny because it's happening to losers born into wealth, who have insane amounts of it and don't know where to spend their excess of capital, so they do dumb shit like this. It's even funnier because it happens to white gringos who belong to a class that poisons our rivers, our water, our forests and our air. Fish food.

Also have they tried reconnecting their USB controller? Maybe that'll do the trick I dunno.

Yeah, I'm not against, say, amateur archeology or grave archeology, some of the best have it as a vocation and not a profession.

But really, this is a "professionals or professional equivalent only" type of expedition.

James Cameron for instance is an idiot millionaire sub guy, is a world class filmographer with a deep interest in underwater photography, and he was very clear the sea will kill you at any time in his well built sub and it will be your fault because this is a fucking dumb thing to do.

Having interacted with people like these in the past, and having gotten infuriated at their behavior, I can assure you that yes, they are that stupid.

The problem is that they are used to having everything served to them on a silver platter in topmost pristine quality, hence the thought that someone might be fucking them over, might be endangering their lives, or might be misleading them doesn't even grace their minds. They legitimately believe all the bullshit they are told. "Doesn't this sub look a little unsafe? Is this really something we should be doing?" -- "No, no, we've done this hundreds of times before and it's completely safe, no concerns to be had whatsoever! Come along now, or you're a party pooper!".

The rich who initiated this deserve their fate. I only feel slightly bad for the 19-year old, because I can imagine he may have gotten dragged into this against his will -- but then again, he too was from one of the richest families of Pakistan, so chances are his views didn't differ much from his father.

"Acrylic windows fail optically before they do structurally so if it gets cloudy we will resurface"

That seems like the easiest and most obvious cause of death here.

Remember that this countdown comes with the assumption of five living, breathing human beings. They brought enough oxygen to last this long for five people. But this is a submarine full of billionaires. I guarantee you the richest one did the calculus slightly faster than the rest and immediately bludgeoned them all over the head with a steel ballast pipe. For the next few days before he inevitably suffocates, Stockton Rush is going to be sitting pretty with four of his closest dead friends and an extra million dollars in his bank account. Truly a fitting end for a billionaire.

Granted they aren't all a pink mist slowly diffusing through the Atlantic ocean, of course.

Assuming they didn't get instantly wiped by the pressure, you think the others put hands on the CEO before they expired?

Important to mention to libs that this sort of death is basically impossible unless you have 250k to blow on nothing. There are gruesome ways for average people to die, sure, but "compacted into tapioca and consumed by crustaceans in the bathypelagic" is a manmade horror out of the price range of even most people who are considered wealthy.

If these people aren't separated from their vast fortunes, they will gladly compact themselves into 1x1x1" cube of skin in an amazonbasics submersible because they're manchildren nostalgic for a movie from the 1990s. To date, no communist party has attempted or even advocated for condensing the bourgeoisie into tubby custard, so clearly communism is more merciful, even to the wealthy, than capitalism ever could be.

It's okay it was just a test dive, and lasting 90 minutes just proves how good the design was. It's actually epic that it underwent a RUD (that's rapid unscheduled disassembly for you plebians).
