In the books, Hermione was a proponent of shrewd and often violent direct action in opposition to slavery and fascism. That’s why Rowling portrayed her as naive and mocked her activism efforts. She is one of the most based people in the series. She was mocked for it and then those aspects were mostly removed in the movies.
Edit: Apparently she went on to be head of the department of magical creatures and it’s implied that she continued to try to abolish slavery from within the ministry. Fuck this liberal ass shit ruining any shred of decency these characters had.
Her jinxing the signup sheet for Dumbledore’s Army so fascist snitches would grow boils all over their face was a fun one, though.
God that series just sucked. I remember reading and enjoying it as a teen and then moving on. Every so often I read a comment like this, pointing out some fundamental shittiness of the franchise, and I'm angry all over again.
