The most an individual can hope for in an org is for the org to no longer need that individual to continue functioning.
I got there before. I burned out, passed on my leadership role, and eventually I couldn't get my leadership position back if I tried. And I'm damn proud of the org still chugging along without me.

Frank is the person who made the comment about Frank's rules for organizing. The person you initially responded to.
It's just a running joke I do. I have some degree of esoteric organizing experience so I sometimes post rules based on my misadventures.

This is kind of my problem with the idea of federated sites. Instead of trusting one big central authority, you put just as much trust in one of many small ones. But your eggs are still all in one basket, and since there is no robust identity verification measures (some kind of either centralized or distributed system to distribute certificates for example), you get all of the flakiness and other problems of small communities with all of the chaos of a large one, with the considerable complexity of federation to make it all worse.
Man, this is the one I picked to make my account on. Now I gotta make another one? Ugh.
