There were people saying they should've stayed in Russia and protested the war instead. There was a (singer?) who committed suicide because he believed the war to be immoral and didn't want to have to kill innocents, and even he was getting tons of hate.

I hadn't heard this, that's very sad. Disgusting that someone could claim moral superiority over someone who literally died to avoid harming others.
I remember Russians being turned back at the border when conscription started. Isn't that the literal opposite of what would hurt Russia's war effort.
